Wire, Aluminium Foil and Glass sculpture

I was inspired to make this after seeing an amazing sculpture made by the very talented Dee Carrington.

I designed the bodice with chicken wire, aluminium foil and glass pebbles and the instructions are in AuzzArt Zine Issue 2.
I am actually looking forward to my big move next week and being able to set up the studio and actually create again!
I had left 99% of my art items in boxes as I knew that I'd only be here for 12 months........ so am looking forward to unpacking and getting back into the swing of things!

Michael deMeng Workshop in NSW - Expressions of interest

We have all heard about what a fabulous class Michael deMeng ran at the Artistic Journey Art Retreat in Fremantle this year!
There is a plan underway to bring Michael to either the Shoalhaven or Sydney areas in February of next year - 2008 - for a full weekend workshop.
Dependent on enrollment, we will offer a full weekend getaway retreat for 20+ participants.

This is a rare chance for local artists to enjoy the skills and learning opportunities offered in such a unique environment, from such a unique teacher!
Places will be strictly limited, in order to maximise the learning for participants, so please indicate your interest!

GPP Network Street Team Crusade #7 "Say What?"

After reading so many of the other entries, just had to search and find some more Aussie ones... There are lots but think I'll just keep with these! lol

Up the creek without a paddle - to be in trouble
In the sticks - out in the country
Flat out like a lizard drinking - very busy
Happy as Larry - very happy (no idea who Larry was)
Fair dinkum - telling the truth
Big bikkies - lots of money
Put another shrimp on the barbie - This was definitely made up for overseas.... we call them prawns not shrimps!
It runs on the smell of an oily rag - an economical car
That's stiff cheese - That's bad luck
He's got a few roos loose in the top paddock - Doesn't have it together

GPP Street Team Crusade #7 - Say what?

A few more words...

Tomato -for some reason we pronounce it "Tomahto" however the pronunciation of potato is the same.
We say garbage bin - you say trash can
We say caravan park - you say trailer park
We say shopping centre - you say Mall (although "Mall" is now widely used)
We say biscuits - you say cookies

When in Australia don't say that you are wearing a "fanny" pack.... fanny means the reverse down here!

GPP Network Street Team

Check out Michelle Ward's - Green Pepper Press - Street Team. Michelle has had a number of Crusades and Crusade #7 - Say What? is for people to journal (or blog) sayings .... so here is one that I had to use at some stage on a trip to the US which really made everyone laugh... and I know that it is being used by quite a few people.
  • Chuck a wobbly .... which basically is Aussie for throwing a tantrum.
  • We say alumin-i-um whereas you gals/guys in the US say aluminum.
  • The trunk of your car is referred to as the "boot" downunder.

I am sure that there are many others... will just have to think of them! Michelle....???

AuzzArt Zine

Thanks to all the girls who submitted artwork for the second issue of AuzzArt zine. The electronic version has been sent and the hard copy is expected any day..... *fingers crossed* as last time the packages were sent around Australia a couple of times before I finally received them! www.AuzzArt.com

A new man in my life

This is Harley. He is a 6 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who was returned to the breeder as the owners' circumstances changed and they were no longer in a position to keep him! He is rather timid, well compared to Baillie that is! The boys are getting on extremely well.... they play 99% of the time.... and so far Baillie hasn't taught Harley to chew my shoes!!!!

Egg Shaped Quiltie

Here is the front and back of an egg shaped quiltie I made for an international swap! Cannot wait until I have moved into my new house... I am so sick of living out of boxes and not being able to find all my art bits and pieces.
